Year 5 and 6 Rugby Tournament Letter 04.08.10

Published by under Notes,Uncategorized

04.08.10

Parents,

The Year 5 and 6 rugby boys are playing in a ten-a-side tackle tournament on Tuesday 17th August at Fraser Park, in Lower Hutt.  It is run by the Wellington Rugby Union and it takes most of the day.  For safety reasons boys have to be less than 50 kilograms so please let me know if your son is over that weight.  They do weigh any boys who look above this weight and the team can be penalized points if they play boys over this weight limit.

Please fill in the slip below and return by Friday so I can organise the transport and team managers/coaches.  If I get enough parent help I may be able to organise it so the boys don’t have to come to school beforehand.  I will send the confirmed transport details home towards the end of next week.

Reporting time: 9.30am (by the changing rooms at Fraser Park)

Finishing time: 2.30pm

Postponement Date: Thursday 19th August

Year 4-6 Zone Athletics Letter – 18.11.09

Published by under Notes

CENTRAL ZONE ATHLETICS

 18.11.09

Parents,

Your son has been selected to represent our school at the Central Zone Athletics.

They are to be held on Tuesday 24th November (Postponement Date: Thursday 26th November) at the Petone Recreational Ground.  It starts with a briefing at 9.30am and finishes at approximately 2.30pm.  The top three places for each event qualify for the Inter-Zone Sports on Tuesday 8th December.

The boys are required to wear their PE shorts, sports shoes, Wellesley hat, PE shirt and something warm over the top to and from the venue.  They will also require a drink bottle, sunscreen, and some food to snack on during the day.

We do require some help with transport but the school van is available.  Any parents supporting are asked to help supervise the Wellesley boys.  I will be there with one or both of the tutors but we may be involved in running some of the events.  I will endeavour to get boys back to school earlier and/or arrive later if they are only involved in one or two events.

Please return the form or email me by tomorrow so I can send the transport information out on Friday.  I apologize for the short notice but the selection process is very lengthy and the weather has been against us this term.  If you are unsure about work and/or other commitments please just return the slip indicating that.

There is a list of the individual events and the programme on the next page.

Regards

Darren Houston

St George’s School Senior Fixture

01.07.09

Parents/Caregivers

The senior first teams are travelling up to play St George’s on Thursday 30th July.

The teams and coaches involved are:

·          1st XI Football – Ross Hampton

·          1st XV Rugby – Murray Blandford

·          1st XI Hockey – Chris Parker

The teams will need to leave Wellington by 8.45am to make an 11.45am meeting time in Wanganui.  It takes approximately two and a half hours to drive to Wanganui so if parents leave by 8.45am there will be time to stop for lunch on the way.  Parents are asked to meet everybody just before the main bridge into Wanganui on the right hand side of the road.  The staff will then lead everyone on to St George’s School and aim to arrive there at 12.00pm.  The matches are scheduled to start at 1.00pm with afternoon tea to follow at approximately 2.30pm.

Please indicate below if you would like to travel up and if you can provide transport.  The intention is that the boys will travel with someone from their suburb to make pick-ups and drop-offs easier.  If you would like to drive up the day before and organise your own accommodation please indicate that below as well.  I will send out the transport details at the beginning of next term.

The boys are required to travel in full uniform.  They will require something to snack on or money to buy lunch on the way but St George’s will provide afternoon tea for both adults and boys after the games.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact your son’s coach or myself.

Regards,

Darren Houston

Colts/Senior Huntley Transport Information for Thursday 25 June

Published by under Notes

Senior Transport Details

16.06.09

Parents / Guardians,

Thank you for the large number of transport offers for the Huntley fixture on Thursday 25th June.  I have finalised the details which are listed on the back.  A separate Year 5/6 letter has gone home as well.  Their games start at 11.30am and they should have left Huntley by the time the senior rugby and football games start.

Parents are asked to contact each other to arrange pick-up times and places.  The directory should help you with addresses and phone numbers.  I apologise if the person(s) you are transporting is/are some distance from where you live.   I encourage parents to drop-off and pick-up boys at the driver’s house or a suitable location.  Also, you are free to merge car loads to reduce the number of cars that are travelling.

The senior rugby and football teams will need to leave Wellington by 10.00am to make a 12.30pm meeting time in Bulls.  Parents are asked to drive past the McDonalds and BP until they see the staff which will be parked on the left hand side of the road near the town boundary.  The staff will then lead everyone to Huntley School and aim to arrive there at 12.45pm.  The matches are scheduled to start at 1.45pm with afternoon tea to follow at approximately 3.30pm.

The two senior hockey teams will need to leave Wellington by 9.00am to make an 11.30pm meeting time in Palmerston North.  The teams will go straight to the turfs which are on Fitzherbert Avenue between the main square and the university.  All of these players will not travel to Huntley for afternoon tea.  Therefore, they should arrive back in Wellington between 4.30 – 5.30pm.

The rugby and football group should leave Huntley by 4.00pm so boys should be arriving back in Wellington by 6.30pm.  I recommend the boys take their cell phones so they can communicate with their parents on the way back.

Boys are expected to travel in full school uniform.  They will need a packed lunch or money to purchase lunch on the way.  Boys can purchase Wellesley badges for $5 from the Uniform Shop on Tuesday or Thursday if they wish to swap badges with a Huntley boy.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact your son’s coach or myself.  I can be reached on our cell phones on the day.

Colts Transport Details

16.06.09

Parents / Guardians,

Thank you for the large number of transport offers for the Huntley fixture on Thursday 25th June.  I have finalised the details which are listed on the back.  A separate Year 7/8 letter has gone home as well.  The Colts fixture is running as separate to the senior one with a small overlap between 12.45-1.30pm.

The teams will need to leave Wellington by 8.00am to make a 10.30am meeting time in Bulls.  Parents are asked to drive past the McDonalds and BP until they see the staff which will be parked on the left hand side of the road near the town boundary.  The staff will then lead everyone on to Huntley School and aim to arrive there at 10.45am.  The matches are scheduled to start at 11.30am with lunch to follow at approximately 1.00pm.

We hope to be leaving Huntley by 1.30pm so boys should be arriving back in Wellington by 4.00pm.  We would prefer Year 5 and 6 boys not watch the senior games but if you intend on doing this please communicate that with your passengers’ parents and leave straight after the games.  I recommend the boys take their cell phones so they can communicate with their parents on the way back.

Boys are expected to travel in full school uniform.  All boys require the relevant playing equipment which includes Wellesley sports socks, black shorts, PE shirt and towel.  The rugby boys will receive a school jersey which needs to be washed and returned on the following Monday.  They will need snack food or money to purchase something on the way.  Boys can purchase Wellesley badges for $5 from the Uniform Shop on Tuesday or Thursday if they wish to swap badges with Huntley boys.

If you have any queries please feel free to contact your son’s coach or myself.  I can be reached on my cell phone on the day.

Regards,

Darren Houston

St Mark’s Hockey Matches

03.06.09

Parents/Caregivers,

The 1st and 2nd XI Hockey teams are playing St Mark’s on Thursday 11th June (next week) at the National Hockey Stadium, Newtown.

We will have the use of the school van but we will need additional help with transport.  The two teams will be leaving Wellesley at 11.45am in time for the 1.00pm starts.

You are welcome to take your son home at the conclusion of the games.  Please indicate below if you are able to transport boys back to your suburb as well.  The aim is for the Wellington boys not to have to return to Eastbourne for school buses.

Please fill in the slip below and return to my pigeon hole by Friday.

Regards,

Darren Houston.
